The Quality Agency for Higher Education (AIKA) continues its comprehensive assessment of all study fields and their study programmes and the accreditation of study fields. The assessment and accreditation of study fields is carried out according to the schedule foreseen by the Law on Higher Education Institutions.
AIKA organises the assessment and accreditation of study fields in accordance with the Standards and guidelines for quality assurance in the European Higher Education Area (ESG) and the related national legal framework.
In the spring of 2026, two thematic analyses were completed – on the study field “Seafaring” and on the study field “Mechanics and Metal Processing, Heat Power Engineering, Heat Technology, and Mechanical Engineering”, which provide an extensive summary of the results obtained within the framework of the assessment and accreditation procedures of these study fields.
The study field “Seafaring” is offered by three higher education institutions – Novikontas Maritime College, Riga Technical University and Liepaja Maritime College of Riga Technical University.
The thematic analysis on the study field “Seafaring” is available here (in Latvian).
The assessment and the accreditation of study field “Mechanics and Metal Processing, Heat Power Engineering, Heat Technology, and Mechanical Engineering” and the assessment of its programmes were carried out in seven higher education institutions – Latvia University of Life Sciences and Technologies, Malnava College of Latvia University of Life Sciences and Technologies, Rezekne Academy of Technologies, Riga Aeronautical Institute, Riga Technical College, Riga Technical University and Transport and Telecommunication Institute.
