The “Student – Expert of the Year” award was presented

On March 22, 2024, the laureates of “Annual Awards 2023” of the Student Union of Latvia were honored, including in the category of “Student – Expert of the Year”.

The award in the “Student – Expert of the Year” category has been presented for several years, thus recognizing the long-standing cooperation between the Quality Agency for Higher Education and the Student Union of Latvia in quality assurance in of higher education and the significant role of students in quality assurance processes.

The Student Union of Latvia nominates student – experts for all external quality assurance procedures implemented by the Quality Agency for Higher Education. These rights are mutually recognized and reinforced in national regulatory frameworks. The Agency and the Student Union of Latvia also collaborate on the training of student – experts and the improvement of regulatory framework related to the quality of higher education. The experience of cooperation between the Agency and the Student Union of Latvia is often recognized internationally as best practice and serves as an example to other countries within and beyond the European Higher Education Area.

In 2024, the nominees for the “Student – Expert of the Year” award were Marta Viļuma, Kristaps Opincāns, Artūrs Černiševs, Santa Katrīna Meikališa, and Rinalds Seržants, with Artūrs Černiševs being the recipient of the award. It is worth noting that two of the other nominees have received this award in previous years.
