The Term of Accreditation of Study Directions has been Amended

According to Paragraph 48 of the transitional regulations of the Law on Institutions of Higher Education (available here), the accreditation term of study directions, the deadline of which expires in 2019, is extended until the date, on which the decision to accredit the study direction is taken or the decision to refuse to accredit the study direction is taken, but not longer than the following:

1. until 30 June 2021, for the following study directions – “Psychology”, “Legal science”, “Economics”, “Information and communication sciences”, “Management, administration, and real estate management”;
2. until 30 June 2022, for the following study directions – “Mechanics and metalworking, thermal power engineering, heat engineering, and mechanical engineering”, “Energy, electrical engineering, and electrotechnologies”,  “Production and processing”, “Architecture and construction”, “Agriculture, forestry, fisheries, veterinary medicine, and food hygiene”, “Health care”, “Social welfare”;
3. until 30 June 2023, for the following study directions – “Arts”, “Religion and theology”, “History and philosophy”, “Geography and earth sciences”, “Life sciences”, “Chemistry, chemical technology, and biotechnology”, “Physics, material science, mathematics, and statistics”, “Information technology, computer technology, electronics, telecommunications, computer management, and computer science”;
4. until 30 June 2024, for the following study directions – “Education, pedagogy and sports”, “Language and culture studies, native language studies and language programmes”, “Translation”, “Sociology, politology and anthropology”, “Hotel and restaurant service, tourism and leisure organisation”, “Transport services”, “Environment protection”, “Internal security and civil defence”, “Military defence”.

Following the Decree of the Cabinet of Ministers from 12th March 2020 No. 103 “On the Declaration of Emergency Situation”, in order to limit the expension of COVID-19 disease, the Academic Information Centre (AIC) / Quality Agency for Higher Education (AIKA) has postponed all expert visits for assessing study directions.

AIKA/AIC will be in contact with every higher education institution with whom AIKA/AIC has already concluded an agreement about the assessment of study direction.

AIKA/AIC will not conclude new agreements about the assessment of study directions until the situation stabilises.

The procedures for licensing of study programmes and assessment of changes to study directions will take place as planned by using online tools, if neccessary.
