On 30 October 2025, the Quality Agency for Higher Education (AIKA) will organize the opening event of the ESF+ project “Implementation of Cyclical Institutional Accreditation in Higher Education”, titled “AIKA – Creating Quality Together.” The conference will take place in person, in Riga.
This conference symbolically marks 10 years since the start of AIKA’s operations, during which the agency has revived internationally recognized quality principles and approaches.
During its first decade, AIKA conducted study field evaluations, thus laying the groundwork for the transition to a cyclical institutional accreditation model.
Now, as the second decade begins, the main challenge is to implement this model in practice – in a way that both ensures high quality standards and strengthens institutional autonomy. This is a significant moment to reflect on what has been achieved and to outline the next stage of development.
During the event, AIKA will look back at its accomplishments, highlight future challenges, and introduce the goals of the ESF project, which will play an important role in the development of higher education quality assurance in Latvia.
The conference will feature contributions from:
- Stéphane Lauwick, President of the European Quality Assurance Register for Higher Education (EQAR),
- Aleksandar Šušnjar, Director of EQAR, and
- Patrick Van den Bosch, Board Member of the European Association for Quality Assurance in Higher Education (ENQA).
At the conclusion of the event, in a festive atmosphere, we will express our gratitude to each another for the achievements and support shared over the past 10 years.
Registration information has been sent to higher education institutions and other AIKA’s cooperation partners.
Given the limited capacity of the venue, the number of participants is restricted.
