On February 19 and 20, representatives of the Quality Agency for Higher Education (AIKA) visited the Croatian Agency for Science and Higher Education (ASHE) to gain experience in implementing cyclical institutional accreditation.

ASHE was established in 2005 and has been implementing institutional accreditation since 2009, reviewing and refining the objectives and methodology of the assessment procedures on multiple occasions.

During the exchange visit, AIKA representatives learned more about the accreditation system in Croatia, in particular the methodology and guidelines for institutional accreditation, databases and information and communication technology (ICT) solutions used by ASHE in its work, as well as decision-making and post-evaluation activities.

On the second day of the visit, AIKA representatives visited the Faculty of Forestry and Wood Technology at the University of Zagreb, where they learned about the perspective of a higher education institution evaluated in the institutional evaluation process.

In order to promote mutual exchange of experience and sharing of good practice, AIKA representatives outlined the process of introducing cyclical institutional accreditation in Latvia, the considerations and challenges involved, and presented the AIKA e-platform, which was recognized as a successful digital solution for improving efficiency.

The exchange visit took place within the framework of the ESF+ project No. 4.2.2.6/1/25/I/001 “Introduction of cyclical institutional accreditation in higher education.”
